Getting Players into Your Event

Once your event is created in Golfify, the next step is getting players into it. There are several ways to do this — from adding individual players by email to uploading an entire field from a spreadsheet. This guide covers every method so you can pick the one that fits your situation.

Before you start

You need an existing event to add players to. If you haven't created one yet, see the Quick Start Guide or Create Your First Event.

Open the Player Manager​

  1. From your event's HOME tab, tap the group_add icon (the people icon in the quick actions row).

    You can also get there via the gear icon → Host Menu → Player Manager. Both routes open the Players & Tee Sheet screen with the PLAYERS tab selected.

Add a player directly​

This is the most common method for smaller events.

  1. Tap the Add Player button on the PLAYERS tab.

  2. Enter the player's name and email address, then confirm.

Email address matters

An email address is required for a player to sign in to the app and enter scores on their phone. If you leave the email blank, the player will appear on the leaderboard but won't be able to score — useful for test players or placeholders, but not for real participants.

Invite players by email​

If you want players to confirm their attendance before being added, use invitations instead.

  1. Choose the Invite option when adding a player.

  2. Enter the player's email address and send the invitation.

  3. The player receives an email and can accept or decline the invitation. Accepted players are added to your event automatically. Declined responses appear in the Declined section of the player list.

Invitations work well for regular meetups where you need to gauge availability before finalising the field.

Add from Buddies​

If you've saved players as Buddies in Golfify, you can add them in a couple of taps.

  1. When adding a player, tap the Buddies option.

  2. Select one or more buddies from your list and add them to the event.

You can manage your Buddies list from the Account Menu → Buddies on the main home screen.

Add from Recent Players​

Golfify remembers players you've recently interacted with.

  1. When adding a player, tap the Recent Players option.

  2. Select players from the recent list to add them to the event.

You can manage this list from Account Menu → Recent Players.

Add from Groups​

If you've set up Groups in Golfify, you can pull players from a group into your event.

  1. When adding a player, tap the Groups option and select the group to browse its members.

Bulk upload from a spreadsheet​

For larger events, uploading a CSV file is the fastest way to add your entire field at once.

  1. On the PLAYERS tab, tap the Bulk Upload option.

  2. Request the CSV template, fill it in using Google Sheets or Excel, then import it back into Golfify.

You can run the bulk upload multiple times — it will update existing players (names, handicaps) rather than creating duplicates. For a detailed walkthrough, see Bulk Upload Players.

Add players from the tee sheet​

You can also add players directly while organising your tee sheet.

  1. Tap the TEE SHEET tab in Players & Tee Sheet.

  2. Tap an empty tee slot. From there you can select an existing player from the event, or add a new player using any of the methods above (direct add, buddies, recent players, or placeholder).

Swap or remove players​

Sometimes you need to make changes after players are added.

  • Swap a player — if a player signed in with a different email than the one you entered, you can swap them without losing any scoring data that's already been recorded.
  • Remove a player — tap the player's name in the list and choose the remove option.

How it works​

Players added with a valid email address will see the event on their Play tab in the Golfify app once you Activate the event. A green icon next to a player's name means they've signed in and can score. A red icon means they haven't signed in yet — you may need to double-check their email address.

Players who were invited (rather than directly added) need to accept the invitation before they appear in the active player list.
