Before you start

You'll need a Stripe account to collect payments in Golfify. If you don't have one yet, you can create one during the setup process below.

How payments work in Golfify

Golfify uses Stripe as its payment processor. Once you connect your Stripe account and set an entry fee on your event, players can pay when they join — either through an invitation or by entering the event directly.

Here's what the payment system includes:

  • Entry fees — charge players when they enter your event
  • Manual invoicing — invoice players who are already in the event for entry fees or extras
  • Refunds — process full or partial refunds inside the app
  • Transaction tracking — view all payment activity for your event in one place

Payments are available for both Single Round and Multi-Round Events.

Connect your Stripe account

Before you can collect payments, you need to link a Stripe account to your Golfify profile. This is a one-time setup — once connected, you can use the same Stripe account across all your events.

  1. From the Home Screen, tap the gear icon in the top-right to open the Account Menu.

  2. Tap Link Stripe Account. This opens the Payouts screen.

  3. Review the information shown and tap Continue.

  4. Choose one of the two connection options:

    • Connect an existing Stripe account — enter your Stripe Account ID and complete the authorisation step in your browser.
    • Create a new Stripe account — Golfify opens a Stripe onboarding session in your browser. Complete the setup, and you'll be returned to the app when finished.
  5. Once authorised, you'll see a confirmation on the Payouts screen. Your Golfify account is now linked to Stripe.

tip

You can also start the Stripe connection from inside an event. Go to Host Menu → Event Settings → Registration & Payments and tap Connect your Stripe account. Both routes end at the same place.

Enable payments on your event

Once Stripe is connected, you can set an entry fee on any event.

  1. Open your event and tap the gear icon to open the Host Menu.

  2. Tap Event Settings, then tap Registration & Payments.

  3. Check that your Stripe account shows as connected. You'll see a green confirmation icon if it is.

  4. Choose your currency. Use the same currency as your Stripe account to avoid exchange fees.

  5. Decide who pays the Golfify transaction fee:

    • Player Pays Golfify Fee on — the fee is shown separately at checkout and added on top of the entry price.
    • Player Pays Golfify Fee off — the fee is deducted from the amount you receive. Players see a single, clean price.
  6. Tap Event Entry and set your entry fee amount. Give it a name if you'd like, then tap Save.

  7. Toggle Event Entry Open to on when you're ready for players to start entering and paying.

Your event is now set up to accept paid entries.

How it works

Once payments are enabled and entry is open, players who tap Enter on your event will see the entry fee and go through a secure Stripe Checkout to complete payment. After paying, they're automatically entered into the event.

You can monitor all payment activity by going to Host Menu → Payments (or tapping the currency icon on the event HOME tab). This shows collected revenue, pending invoices, and individual transaction details.

Funds from player payments go directly into your connected Stripe account. Golfify does not hold your money at any point.

Always refund through Golfify

If you need to refund a player, process the refund inside Golfify rather than through your Stripe dashboard. Refunds processed directly in Stripe will not refund the Golfify application fee. See Processing Refunds for details.

Troubleshooting

Can't set an entry fee?

Make sure your Stripe account is fully connected. Go to Account Menu → Link Stripe Account and check that the Payouts screen shows your account as connected.

Players can't enter?

Check that Event Entry Open is toggled on in Host Menu → Event Settings → Registration & Payments. Also confirm that an entry fee has been saved.

Currency warning showing?

This means your event currency is different from your Stripe account currency. Using a different currency may result in exchange fees from Stripe. Switch to the same currency as your Stripe account if possible.
