Use Multiple Tees in an Event

Not every player in your event needs to play from the same tee. Golfify lets you assign different tees to individual players — and automatically adjusts their handicap to keep scoring fair. This is especially useful for mixed events where players of different ages, genders, or skill levels play from different tee boxes.

Before you begin

Your event needs at least two tees available. If you haven't set up your course yet, see Facilities, Courses and Tees first.

Add tees during event creation​

When you create an event, Golfify asks you to choose a default tee. You can add more tees at this stage so they're available right away.

  1. Start creating a new event (tap the + button on the Home Screen and choose your event type).

  2. On the event creation screen, select your default tee from the list.

  3. Tap Add Another Tee to include additional tees.

  4. Repeat for as many tees as you need, then tap Create.

Add tees after event creation​

If you didn't add extra tees during setup, you can add them through Event Settings at any time.

  1. From your event, tap the gear icon to open the Host Menu.

  2. Tap Event Settings, then scroll to Facility, Course, Tees & Holes.

  3. Add the tees you need and tap Save.

Multi-round events

In a multi-round event, tees are set per round. Go to Host Menu → Event Settings, then tap the round row you want to edit. The tee options are under Facility, Course, Tees & Holes in each round's settings.

Change a player's tee​

Once your event has multiple tees available, you can assign a specific tee to any player.

  1. Tap the gear icon to open the Host Menu.

  2. Tap Player Manager to open the Players & Tee Sheet screen.

  3. Tap the TEE SHEET tab.

  4. Find the player you want to update and tap their more menu (⋯).

  5. Tap Change player tees.

  6. Select the new tee for that player and confirm.

The player's tee indicator updates immediately, and their handicap is recalculated based on the course rating and slope for the new tee.

How it works​

Each tee on a golf course has its own course rating and slope rating. When you assign a player to a different tee, Golfify uses that tee's ratings to calculate the player's course handicap. This means two players with the same handicap index can receive different playing handicaps if they're on different tees — which is exactly how it should work for fair competition.

A few things to know:

  • Tee indicators appear next to each player's name on the tee sheet, so you can see at a glance who is playing from where.
  • Handicaps recalculate automatically whenever you change a player's tee. You don't need to update anything manually.
  • You can change tees during a live event. If a player is assigned the wrong tee after the event has been activated, update it and Golfify will adjust their scores accordingly.
Use tee-based divisions

If your event has players on different tees, consider creating a tee-based division so players can see where they stand against others on the same tee.

Frequently Asked Questions​

Can I change a player's tee after the event has started?

Yes. You can change a player's tee at any point — before, during, or after the round. Golfify recalculates their handicap and updates the leaderboard automatically.

Does changing a tee affect the player's scores?

The raw scores stay the same, but the player's course handicap is recalculated based on the new tee's course rating and slope. This may change their net score and leaderboard position.

How many tees can I add to a single event?

You can add as many tees as your course offers. There's no limit within Golfify.
