Set Up Divisions and Flights
Running an event with mixed handicaps or players on different tees? Divisions let you split your leaderboard into smaller groups so everyone can see where they stand against similar players — without creating separate events.
You can group by handicap range, tee, or hand-pick players into a custom division. Divisions work in both single-round and multi-round events in Golfify.
Make sure you've already created an event and added your players. You can set up divisions before or after activating the event.
Here's a quick overview of how divisions work in Golfify.
Add a Division
-
From your event, tap the gear icon to open the Host Menu.
-
Tap Event Settings, then scroll to Flights / Divisions.
-
Tap Add Flight.
-
Give your division a name (e.g. "A Flight", "Red Tee", "Members Only").
-
Choose a division type — see below for how each one works.
-
Tap Save.
Division Types
Handicap Range
Automatically includes players whose handicap falls within a range you define.
- Select Handicap as the division type.
- Set a minimum handicap, maximum handicap, or both.
- Tap Save.
Players who meet the criteria appear in this division automatically — no manual assignment needed.
Tee-Based
Groups players based on which tee they're playing from. Useful when your event has players on different tees.
- Select Tee as the division type.
- Choose one or more tees to include. You can select multiple tees, which is handy for multi-course events where tee names differ.
- Tap Save.
Players appear in this division based on the tee assigned to their first contributing score.
If you need to change which tee a player is on, go to Host Menu → Player Manager, tap the TEE SHEET tab, then tap the player's more menu (⋯) and select Change player tees.
Custom Division
Lets you hand-pick exactly which players belong to the division. No rules — you choose.
- Select Manually assign players as the division type.
- Tap Save.
- Go to Host Menu → Player Manager and tap the TEE SHEET tab.
- For each player you want to include, tap their more menu (⋯) and select Assign to division.
- Choose the custom division you just created.
Custom divisions require you to assign each player individually. If a player is missing from the division's leaderboard, check that they've been assigned on the TEE SHEET tab.
Divisions in Multi-Round Events
In multi-round events, divisions can apply to individual rounds, the overall leaderboard, or both.
- When creating or editing a division, look for the Apply to all rounds toggle.
- Turn it on to show this division as a filter on every round's leaderboard as well as the overall leaderboard.
- Leave it off to show the division only on the overall leaderboard.
For single-round events, this toggle doesn't appear — divisions apply to the event automatically.
In a multi-round event, tap the gear icon → Host Menu → Event Settings → Overall Event, then scroll to Flights / Divisions. The same setup process applies — the only difference is the Apply to all rounds option.
How It Works
Once you've created a division, it appears as a filter tab on your leaderboard. Players and spectators can tap the tab to view standings for that specific group.
A few things to know:
- Handicap and tee divisions populate automatically based on player data. You don't need to assign anyone manually.
- Custom divisions require manual assignment on the TEE SHEET tab in Players & Tee Sheet.
- Divisions are display filters only — they don't change how scores are calculated.
- You can create as many divisions as you need, and mix types freely (e.g. one handicap division and one custom division in the same event).
For handicap and tee-based divisions, a team only appears if all teammates meet the criteria. For custom divisions, a team appears if at least one teammate is assigned. Group leaderboards do not support division filters.
Keep division names short and clear. They need to fit on phone screens, tablets, and TV Leaderboards.
Troubleshooting
For handicap and tee-based divisions, teams only appear if all team members meet the criteria. Check that every player on the team qualifies.
If you're running a multi-round event and the division only appears on the overall leaderboard, you likely didn't enable Apply to all rounds. Edit the division and turn the toggle on, or delete and recreate it.
Make sure the player's tee is set correctly on the TEE SHEET tab in Players & Tee Sheet, and that they have at least one contributing score from that tee.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do divisions affect scoring or handicap calculations?
No. Divisions are display filters only. All scoring, handicap calculations, and statistics are still calculated against the full field.
Can I add or change divisions after the event is activated?
Yes. Divisions can be created, edited, and removed while the event is both inactive and active.
Can I mix rule-based and custom divisions in the same event?
Yes. You can create as many divisions as you need using any combination of handicap, tee, and custom types.
Can I bulk-assign players to a custom division?
Not currently. Players need to be assigned individually via the TEE SHEET tab in Players & Tee Sheet.
Can a player move between tee-based divisions across rounds?
Yes. Eligibility follows the first contributing score that matches the selected tees for each round.
