Custom Scores to Count

In a team Better Ball event, you can control how many player scores count on each hole. This lets you run popular variations like Irish Rumble, Waltz, Cha Cha Cha, or any custom pattern — all within a single Golfify event.

Before you begin

Your event must use the Better Ball team format. If you haven't created your event yet, see the Quick Start Guide. Custom Scores to Count is configured after event creation, from the event settings.

Set Up Custom Scores to Count​

  1. From your event, tap the gear icon to open the Host Menu.

  2. Tap Event Settings, then scroll to Format & Scoring.

  3. Under Better Ball Variations, you'll see preset options:

    • Waltz — a rotating pattern of 1, 2, 3 scores to count.
    • Progressive — scores to count increase across the round.
    • Custom — set the number of scores to count on each hole individually.

  4. Select Custom to open the per-hole editor.

  5. Tap View Scores to Count to see all 18 holes.

Adjust Scores Per Hole​

In the per-hole editor, each hole shows its par value and the current number of scores to count.

  1. Tap the number next to a hole to change how many scores count.

    • In a pairs event, you can choose 1 or 2.
    • In a four-player team, options range from 1 to 4.

  2. Use the par values as a guide if you want specific rules for certain hole types — for example, counting all scores on par 3s.

  3. When you're happy with the settings, tap the back arrow.

  4. Tap Save to apply your changes.

How It Works​

Once saved, Golfify uses your custom pattern when calculating team scores. On each hole, only the specified number of best scores from the team contribute to the team total. The leaderboard reflects these calculations automatically.

Double-check each hole before saving — it's easy to miss one. The par value next to each hole helps you verify you're setting the right holes.

Custom Scores to Count is configured after event creation, not during the initial setup flow. Create your Better Ball event first, then adjust the settings.
