Best 2 from 3 Rounds

Running a multi-round event but want to give players a safety net? The "Best 2 from 3 Rounds" format lets you run three rounds of golf where only each player's best two scores count toward the final leaderboard. The weakest round is automatically dropped — great for tours, society series, and any event where you want to reward consistency while forgiving one bad day.

Make sure you're familiar with creating multi-round events in Golfify, as this format uses the multi-round structure.

What is Best 2 from 3 Rounds?​

This format is a multi-round individual competition with a twist:

  • Players compete over 3 rounds (each round can be on different dates and courses)
  • After all rounds are complete, only the best 2 round scores count toward the final leaderboard
  • The weakest round is automatically dropped from the total
  • The overall winner is the player with the best combined score from their two counting rounds

This approach encourages participation in all rounds and reduces the impact of one poor performance. It's especially popular for monthly medal series, club tours, and society seasons.

How to set it up​

  1. From the Home Screen, tap the + button and select Multi-Round Event.

  2. Enter your event details — name, dates, and player information.

  3. Tap Create to set up the event with an initial round.

  4. Tap the gear icon → Host Menu → Event Settings to open the round list.

  5. Tap Add Round twice to create a total of 3 rounds. Configure each round's date, course, and settings as needed.

  6. On the Event Settings screen, look for the Individual Rounds to Count setting.

  7. Set this to 2 — Golfify will automatically count only the best 2 round scores for each player.

  8. Configure the scoring method in Overall Event settings — Individual Strokeplay (Stroke Play or Stableford) is the typical choice.

  9. Add players via Host Menu → Player Manager and assign tee times for each round on the TEE SHEETS tab.

Scoring and leaderboard​

As each round is played, the leaderboard shows cumulative scores. After all three rounds are complete:

  • Golfify automatically identifies each player's best 2 rounds
  • The weakest round is dropped from the total
  • The final leaderboard ranks players by their best 2 combined scores

Players can see which of their rounds are counting on the LEADERBOARD tab.

This format also works with other numbers — for example, "Best 3 from 5 Rounds" for a longer series. Simply create the required number of rounds and set the Rounds to Count accordingly.

All rounds must be completed

The rounds-to-count calculation applies after all rounds have been played. If a player misses a round, they may not have enough scores to qualify for the final standings — consider how you want to handle absent players before the event starts.
