LIV-Style Events

Inspired by the LIV Golf Tour, this format combines individual and group team competition across multiple rounds. Players compete for their own scores while also contributing to a team total — and you can change how many team scores count in each round. Golfify makes it easy to set up this dynamic format for your own events.

Before you begin

Make sure you're familiar with creating multi-round events in Golfify, as LIV-style events use the multi-round structure.

What is a LIV-style event?​

A LIV-style event brings together individual and team competition in a multi-round tournament:

  • Players are organised into teams (typically four per team)
  • Each player plays as an individual and enters their own scores
  • A configurable number of each team's best scores count toward the team total each round
  • Both individual and team leaderboards run simultaneously
  • Each round can have different team scoring rules (e.g. best 3 of 4 in Round 1, all 4 in Round 2)

This format creates a compelling dual competition — players are trying to win individually while also contributing to their team's success.

How to set it up​

Create the event​

  1. From the Home Screen, tap the + button and select Multi-Round Event.

  2. At the bottom of the creation screen, select the LIV Style option for a pre-configured starting point. You can also start from scratch.

  3. Enter your event details — name, description, and dates.

  4. Choose your leaderboard type. The most common option for LIV-style events is Individual & Group Team, which gives you both leaderboards.

  5. Set the scoring method to Stroke Play (Stableford also works).

  6. Set the number of Group Teams (e.g. 2 or more) and the number of players per team (typically 4).

  7. Tap Create.

Configure per-round team scoring​

The key feature of a LIV-style event is that you can vary how many team scores count in each round.

  1. Tap the gear icon → Host Menu → Event Settings.

  2. Tap a round row to open Round Settings.

  3. Scroll to Format & Scoring and find the Group Team Scores to Count setting.

  4. Set the number of scores that count for each round. For example:

    • Round 1 — best 3 out of 4 players' scores count toward the team total
    • Round 2 — all 4 players' scores count toward the team total

  5. Repeat for each round as needed.

Varying the scores-to-count across rounds adds strategic depth. In early rounds, weaker players can be "carried" by the team. In later rounds where all scores count, every player matters.

Add teams and players​

  1. Go to Host Menu → Player Manager.

  2. Tap Add Team (or Create Group) to create your teams.

  3. Customise each team with a name, logo, and colour — these appear on the leaderboard for easy identification.

  4. Add players to each team. Include their email addresses so they can access the event in the app.

  5. Tap the TEE SHEETS tab and assign tee times for each round. You can manually assign players or use Auto Assign for random tee time allocation.

Activate and score​

  1. Activate each round from the HOME tab when it's ready.

  2. Players enter their individual scores on their scorecards.

  3. Golfify automatically calculates team totals based on the scores-to-count rule for each round.

Close rounds sequentially

End each round before activating the next. This prevents players from entering scores in the wrong round.

Leaderboard​

The leaderboard has two views:

  • Individual Tally — ranks all players by their individual scores across rounds
  • Group Tally — ranks teams by their combined team scores, showing both gross and net results

Players and spectators can switch between views by tapping the leaderboard chips. Tapping a team shows a detailed breakdown of each player's contribution per round.
